Michael Keaton Batman Costume goes on saleThe costume worn by Michael Keaton in Batman Returns is set to go up for auction in Hollywood later this month. Batman Returns was Tim Burton’s second crack at the character franchise and it was lauded as a major success both in the box office and amongst critics. Now you can get a piece of film and cinematic history by getting your hands on Keaton’s costume which, includes a rubber body suit, rubber boots and a rubberised cape, but be warned it won’t be cheap and the costume is estimated to fall under the hammer for around $50,000 (£32,000). Alternatively we have the Batman Collector’s costume based on Keaton’s original and made to spec. If you can't afford a costume that cost the same price as a luxury car, we also have a wide range of Batman fancy dress costumes which are far more reasonably priced. Keaton's Batman costume and a plethora of Batman related memorbillia are being auctioned by the company Profiles in History in Los Angeles. Amongst the outfits up for grabs are a series of Jim Carrey’s resplendent Riddler costumes from the equally resplendent Batman Forever, which are estimated to sell for between $15,000 (£9,581) and $30,000 (£19,162). Amongst the huge collection of memorabilia coming up for auction is the first edition of Playboy magazine with Marylyn Monroe on the cover ($2,000 - $3,000) and Peter Mayhews original Star War’s Chewbacca mask (estimated $60,000 - $80,000).
