The people of Newtongrange in Scotland will be keeping their eyes peeled for a man in a king fancy dress outfit soon in order to kick off a fun festival.

An annual tradition, the Newtongrange Gala will be taking place tomorrow (June 12th 2010) in order to celebrate the town's rich history, the Mid-Lothian Advertiser reports.

The king, queen and courtiers will assemble in the town's main square before parading through the streets to the rhythm of Newtongrange Silver Band, The Massed Pipes and Drums, and Newtongrange Pipe Band.

A crowning ceremony will then take place for the king - aka Jason Aitken - and Isla Emsley, who will be in a queen fancy dress costume for the event.

Anyone going to watch the gala will then be able to join in fun activities including quad bike riding and bungee trampolines.

This year's event will be the town's 96th gala, so you're sure to be in for a great knees-up if you want to visit.

You could even wear your own regal fancy dress to get into the spirit!
