We're always being told to save money at the moment, so why not create your own decorations for your Halloween fancy dress party?
Although you may want to buy some things to ensure you have plenty of time for other preparations, some pieces can be made really easily and cheaply.
For example, don't splash out on costly coloured tea-lights - alter plain ones to suit any occasion.
Stamping Mathilda states that all you need for this is some tissue paper, some Tim Holtz Distress Inks (available online from places like The Stamp Man and Artist Trading Post) and a few little themed rubber stamps - Hero Arts do a great Halloween set at Sir Stampalot.
Use a piece of foam to colour the tissue paper with the ink and stamp motifs such as pumpkins and skeletons all over. Next, cut circles of tissue the same size as the top of the tealights.
Take the candles apart (but keep all the bits for later) and put a circle of tissue on top of each one. Using a heat gun, you can then gently melt the wax around the paper so it holds it in place, creating the illusion that the wax itself is decorated.
Put everything back together and you've got some fab table decorations!
Don't forget that if you get some Christmas stamps too, you can use the same idea for your Christmas fancy dress party.
