Amanda Seyfried has revealed that she was attracted to the new movie version of Red Riding Hood because it has a really dark outlook.
Speaking to the Herald Scotland, she admitted she prefers stories with a twisted nature to romcoms, despite her filmography including Letters to Juliet and Mamma Mia!.
"I like it when you have to wrap your head around things. I don't like blood and guts but I do like the messed up," the actress commented.
Seyfried's co-star Max Irons added that fairy tales are actually very sinister and pointed out that in the original Brothers Grimm story, Red Riding Hood is eaten by the wolf.
The premiere of Red Riding Hood was held in Los Angeles recently, with the Jim Henson Studios decorated to look like a storybook village.
It is directed by Catherine Hardwicke of Twilight fame, so expect lots of teenage angst if you go to see it!
