Shunning cycling shorts and traditional gear over the weekend were many riders taking part in the 24th annual Selby Lions Bike Ride, who opted for superhero outfits instead, the York Press reports.
Aiming to raise money for good causes including the British Heart Foundation and the RNLI, the fundraisers cycled for either 25 or 40 miles, cheered on by crowds who lined the footpaths.
Organiser David Jones said he was thrilled with the turnout of people, ranging from kids to pensioners, as well as the costumes.
" make friends with the people they cycle with and arrange to meet up with them again. But we do get a lot of new ones too," he commented.
What better excuse is there to get fit than metting new people while dressed as The Dark Knight?
