The festive displays at Chatsworth House and estate in Derbyshire have now been launched with the help of Christmas fancy dress.
This year, the theme is A Russian Christmas and the stately home - which was the setting for the film Pride and Prejudice starring Keira Knightley - is lavishly decorated with trees, nativity scenes and decorations.
Youngsters wearing children's fancy dress costumes including sugar plum fairy outfits joined the Duchess of Devonshire to be shown around the sculpture gallery, which is a tribute to The Nutcracker and Peter and the Wolf.
They won their right to be there after entering a competition to design Faberge eggs.
However, it is not just Chatsworth House that is decorated, with a spokesperson telling the Derby Telegraph: "In the farmyard, the team has created a winter wonderland ready for nativity performances, with real animals and Christmas crafts."
Chatsworth is set in the heart of the Peak District National Park and is also close to Bakewell, which is famous for its tarts.
