People heading to Sedgefield Racecourse on May 8th 2010 may well be treated to the sight of some sexy fancy dress outfits.

The racecourse is to host the final of the Miss Durham contest on that day - and it promises to be a beauty pageant with a difference.

There is no traditional swimwear round, but the good news is that it has been replaced by a fancy dress round.

Sarah Thewlis, from Sedgefield Racecourse, told the Northern Echo the swimwear round had been dropped because some young women feel uncomfortable walking around in a bikini.

However, there is every chance that some of the contestants, who are competing to win a modelling contract and a place in the Miss England final, will opt for sexy fancy dress costumes.

Ms Thewlis added: "We want the girls to be able to show their character, so it's up to them how they dress in the fancy dress category."

We really like this idea and expect some of the girls to look stunning in their costumes, but we're also hoping some of them will have a little fun at the judges' expense.

Exactly how many marks could you give a beauty contest entrant who parades down the catwalk in a Darth Vader fancy dress costume, complete with mask and helmet?
