It may have been a Christmas party, but the players at Manchester City opted to wear fun fancy dress for their team bash over the weekend.

The players turned up on Saturday (December 4th 2010) looking bright and cheerful in polka-dot outfits to go clubbing in Hale, Cheshire.

We're not entirely sure what the theme was, but the costumes did look a little bit like clown fancy dress, although the Mirror speculated they could all have been children's TV presenters.

However, James Milner and Patrick Viera looked as though they were the odd ones out, sporting plain (although brightly-coloured) trousers instead of ones with spots on. They also hid their faces as they made their way to the venue.

The team probably had a good old knees-up after their win against Bolton on Saturday afternoon, although the manager is most likely hoping they don't turn into clowns on the pitch for their next fixture against West Ham on December 11th 2010.
