Keen cyclists can celebrate Halloween while pedalling furiously round Herne Hill Velodrome next month.

On Saturday October 30th, the south London venue is set to host Rollapaluza's Muddy Hell, a full programme of night-time off-road racing with a Halloween twist.

Riders will compete in a range of age groups across the novice, MTB, single speed and fixed-wheel categories, with Halloween fancy dress encouraged for all participants.

With a prize fund worth £1,000, as well as a barbeque and bar for non-riders, the event looks set to attract many members of the capital's cycling community.

Last year, the first Rollapaluza Halloween Cross at Herne Hill attracted 1,000 visitors and 270 riders.

According to cycling website Road.cc, Rollapaluza is planning to create some "surprise obstacles" at the velodrome this year.

With fancy dress prizes up for grabs, cyclists looking to give their rivals a fright during the races could turn up in Freddy Krueger fancy dress or a Bloody Butcher costume.
