Sport Relief was originally established in 2002 and is a biennial charity event from Comic Relief and BBC Sport. Sport Relief is an annual charity event held across the UK, hosted every year in March. This year Sport Relief will start Friday 18th, March and end Sunday 20th, March.  The main concept is to bring entertainment and sport together to help raise money for vulnerable people in the UK and across the globe. Since 2002, Sport Relief has raised more than £262 million! The money is raised by the public from all the different events taken place over the country. The money is spent by Comic Relief, 50% of the money raised is used to make a difference in the UK and 50% goes towards transforming lives across the world's poorest communities.  

Sport Relief Games

  The Sport Relief games consists of three different sets, The Mile, Swimathon & Cycle. The entire campaign revolves around the "Sport Relief Mile", which involves people being sponsored by friends and family to take part in an event. The Sport Relief Mile challenges people of all ages to complete at least one mile, there are three different distances one mile, three miles and six miles. Participants can complete these however they would like run, walk, jog, skip, wheel it's up to you!  There are many different Mile events across the UK and there are six flagship events taking place in Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow, London, Norwich and Sheffield. 564 There are many different ways you can get involved with this year's Sport Reliefs, whether you're looking to compete or sponsor a friend/family member. The Sport Relief Night of TV

  All of these events run up to the Sport Relief weekend., The Sport Relief Night of TV will be broadcast live on BBC One from the Copper Box Arena in Queen Elizabeth's Olympic park. Some of the UK's most loved celebrities will present the show, including John Bishop, Alesha Dixon, Greg James, Gary Lineker, Davina McCall and David Walliams. Sport Relief gets a lot of media attention and is featured on shows like The Great Sport Relief Bake Off alongside dedicated charity song. James Bay will be exclusively performing the official Sport Relief 2016 single 'Running' for the charity on Friday night. Fans can download the the single on iTunes now and watch the video on Vevo from 10am on Friday 11th March. The Night of TV will feature a variety of different celebrity sketches, clips from this year's Sport Relief flagship events held across the UK and an episode of The great Sport Relief Bake Off. Some of the UK's favourite characters will be returning to our screens exclusively for Sport relief! Smithy, Played by James Corden from BBC's Gavin and Stacey will be returning to our screens for this year's Sport Relief. Accompanied by some of football's greatest names will join Smithy to help him become the next FIFA President. Including England World Cup winning hero Sir Geoff Hurst, Brazilian legend Pele, England icon Steven Gerrard and Jose Mourinho. Simthy's announcement is on BBC iPlayer and will be shown during the Sport Relief Night of TV on BBC One on Friday 18th March. Emily Howard, Played by David Walliams from BBC's Little Britain, will be featured in a Sport Relief sketch alongside comic Micky Flanagan who will be playing Mickey Perm and Stoke City striker Peter Crouch. In the sketch Mickey Perm is Peter Crouch's sport agent trying to get him back on the England football team. However there's a catch, Crouch will be playing for the England Women's Football Team, 'The Lionessess'. So Emily Howard (Walliams) is called in to teach Peter Crouch how to be a 'lady'! The BBC will be filming at some of  their flagship events at London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The best way to get yourself on TV is to do your marathon in an unusual way or dress up to stand out from the crowd.
