  • Historical movie memorabilia including the original Willy Wonka costume worn by Gene Wilder in the 1971 film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will be going up for auction this coming July. While a plethora of items from the iconic 1971 film are set to fall under the gavel the undisputed showpiece of the auction is Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka signature costume. The outfit consists of a purple velvet frock coat, camelhair and wool slacks, violet lame vest and a satin bow tie. The outfit which rightfully deserves it place on a pedestal amongst the most iconic costumes in cinematic history is currently on a tour around the USA and it is estimated that it will sell for around $120,000.
