666

Satan’s association with Halloween is tenuous and Halloween at it roots has very little to do with Satanism. The Celtic Pagans believed that the lines between the living and the dead became blurred and that spirits of the deceased came back to earth on Halloween to haunt the living. This was centuries before there was even knowledge of the Christian heaven and hell let alone Jesus and Satan.

Although Halloween has always had connotations with malevolent and malicious spirits it wasn’t until the 20th century, as Halloween became commercial in the USA, and when Hollywood brought blockbuster horror films into our living rooms that people began drawing associations with Satan and the satanic symbol 666, which to this day remains a common symbol associated with the holiday.

In the Bible Revelation 13 introduces us to the number 666,

“No one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or then number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.” Revelation: 13:17,18

666 is considered to be the mark of the beast.  Revelation 13 warns of that the “beast” (Satan) will inhabit a flawless body appearing to the people as a glorious being that will claim to be God. The mark of the beast will be related to the number 666 as this is the total amount of different names Satan will be known by. The reason that he will have 666 different names is in order to appeal to all religions, races, ages and sexes. Satan impersonating God will encourage the human race to follow him branding those who choose to do so with a beautiful “mark of the beast” (which consists of one of his 666 names) on either their foreheads or right hands. People who receive this mark will receive great rewards and those who choose not to receive the mark will be severely punished. However, this doesn’t make up for what it is said that God will do to you if you choose to get the mark of the beast, as he will unleash his wrath on you and deny your entry into heaven. Leading theologians believe that the Beast’s arrival on earth will ultimately result in the apocalypse with the good going to heaven and those who choose to follow Satan going to hell.
