Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated in Mexico to honour their deceased loved ones during the chilly days of November 1 & 2. Locals believe that the gates of heaven open at midnight on October 31, and the deceased spirits are allowed to reunite with their families.
To support the weary spirits, beautiful altars are made in each home and are decorated with candles, flowers, food and special Day of the Dead bread. Sugar skulls and skeletons provide colourful decoration.
