  • After the news of the discovery of the Higgs boson set the scientific communities tongues wagging last week, another major win for science (albeit fictional science) has been announced with the news that the original Ghostbusters Proton Pack will be falling under the hammer on the 30th of July in Los Angeles. Although it isn’t clear which of the Ghostbusters wore this particular proton pack (it is rumoured the packs were alternated throughout filming, so it is possible all four of them wore it at one point) it is the first of its kind to come under auction and is an authenticated prop from the original 1984 Ghostbusters film. The proton pack is a portable particle accelerator allowing would be Ghostbusters among you to hold “negatively charged ectoplasm entities.” View Post
  • The costume worn by Michael Keaton in Batman Returns is set to go up for auction in Hollywood later this month. Batman Returns was Tim Burton’s second crack at the character franchise and it was lauded as a major success both in the box office and amongst critics. Now you can get a piece of film and cinematic history by getting your hands on Keaton’s costume which, includes a rubber body suit, rubber boots and a rubberised cape, but be warned it won’t be cheap and the costume is estimated to fall under the hammer for around $50,000 View Post
  • Tomorrow in Melbourne, scientist from CERN, the European nuclear research institute are expected to announce the discovery of the Higgs boson or as it is better known in layman's terms, “the God particle”.The announcement, set for 8:00 am GMT, is widely considered to be one of the most important in modern science as early rumours suggest the CERN team have found light at the end of the tunnel in the forty-eight year search for the Higgs boson particle.
