It may be that people need reminding of the definition of fun fancy dress, but another costume party has ended in a brawl after revellers drank too much and began arguing.
Earlier this week, we reported that a bash at a dog racing track had erupted into a big scrap after attendees at opposite sides of the ground started to trade insults.
Now, it has emerged that a man in smurf fancy dress KOd someone dressed as a rasta at the Word Up club in Greenock on Halloween after too many £1 drinks were consumed all round.
The police were called after the smurf punched the rasta to the ground, leaving him in need of stitches. Although the perpetrator got away, Detective Inspector John Dearie from the Strathclyde force said he is still in hot water.
"This is the first time in 30 years in the police force that I have been looking for a smurf. We are treating this very seriously. Whether people are dressed up as a cartoon character is neither here nor there," he added.
