Bungling thieves leave store empty-handed after TNT gaffe

The criminals broke into a service station close to Harare and tied up a shop assistant, according to the Metro. Next, they headed to the safe and set up some explosives around it in order to free the money inside. However, they appear to have been a little over-zealous with the TNT and instead of blowing the door open, they obliterated the entire safe, which went skywards and took the money with it. The thieves had to abandon their robbery before the police came, speeding away without the £2,600 they could have pinched from the safe. Police are now trying to hunt them down, presumably before they blow themselves up in another botched crime. This comes after the Daily Tribune reported earlier this year that a man had tried to rob a bank in Oakland in drag, but was foiled after someone in the branch was able to see through his disguise and identify him in a line-up.
