Escapade make another GUINNESS WORLD RECORD™!
398 MARVEL SPIDER-MEN SET A NEW GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ TITLE, RAISING FUNDS FOR HELP FOR HEROES Escapade, a leading fancy dress company, is delighted to announce that it has made history setting a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for ‘The largest gathering of people dressed as Spider-Man’. The event took place last night at Student Central as part of its Fresher’s Fayre. With an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ judge present, the count stopped at 8.40pm. www.escapade.co.uk/spidermanrecord Following on from their successful Superman event in the Summer of 2013, last night set a global first for this new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title with Escapade providing each participant with a Marvel Comics officially licensed Spider-Man costume. Complete with a gravity defying corde lisse aerial show, competitions involving crowd participation and an unexpected flash-mob dance routine, Student Central members and their guests were treated to a full evening of entertainment as part of the Union’s Fresher’s Fayre week and in turn raised several hundred pounds for Britain’s leading armed forces charity, Help For Heroes. Interest surrounding the event has been considerable, including support from none other than Nicholas Hammond (star of the 1977 live action series ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’) who re-tweeted Escapade’s event and their donation of free Spider-Man costumes to the night’s participants. Commenting on the event, Bhupendra Maisuria, Managing Director of Escapade said: “We are thoroughly delighted with the outcome of the event. We had an overwhelming number of people come and join in to help set this new record title. It was such a fun evening that supported our student community who all put an astounding effort in to raise awareness for Help for Heroes. “I would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation of the night and in particular to all those students who took part. We hope to hold many more events like this in the future.” Steve Harwood, Student Central’s Staff Admin & Performance Manager, said: “Starting University is a big time for students but events like tonight’s is what makes the whole thing so special. It was a great turn-out and our members really loved the chance to put themselves in the history books.” Student Central member (and PhD student) Erik Pazos commented: “I knew of this a long time ago, I even put it in my calendar. Ever since my Mother got me my first Guinness Book of World Records in the year 2000, I’ve always wanted to help make a Guinness World Record and I was just so excited that we were been given a chance to do this." Sue Clack, a Help For Heroes official, stated: “With so many of our heroes still needing as much support as possible, these kind of events really matter. It’s so important to involve as many people as possible, this is the perfect opportunity to make a change for those in need.” Jack Brockbank, an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ judge, was in attendance on the night to confirm the event’s success and presented Hal Sinden from Escapade Fancy Dress with an official certificate presentation on-stage at 8.40pm alongside representatives from Help For Heroes.
