There were tears before bedtime for the cast of the Harry Potter films last night (July 7th 2011) as they attended the premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 .

All of JK Rowling's books have now been adapted for the silver screen and the boy wizard's journey is over, so it would be the last time Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint would walk the red carpet as Harry, Hermione and Ron.

They smiled as they waved at fans and signed autographs, but everything got a bit too much as they took to a podium to give thankyou speeches.

"Every opportunity I get from now on all goes down to the fact I got very, very lucky when I was 11," said Radcliffe.

Breaking down in tears, Watson wailed: "You didn't get lucky - you were and are the perfect Harry and will be forever."

Producer David Heyman stepped in to offer her a shoulder to cry on, while Grint and Rowling were also snapped shedding a tear.

Watson announced she would miss playing Hermione and helping to bring to life "a set of books that I myself loved so much".

However, the cast members had recovered enough to attend a party after the screening, although Radcliffe headed home early.

Fans may be looking forward to wearing their Harry Potter costumes for the first showings of The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 after Radcliffe recently told Total Film that it would be a good send-off.

He explained that there is plenty of action in this installment and that Harry is really under pressure as the story comes to a close.

'His friendships are falling apart; it’s all falling apart ... It was the most interesting I think he's been as a character," he said.

Rowling recently announced the launch of an interactive Harry Potter website for fans, so this could ease the pain of the films ending a little bit.
