Kids have been putting on their best pirate's fancy dress costume when visiting the Blue Planet Aquarium over the last few days to celebrate Pirate Week.

Since Saturday (February 19th 2011), the Cheshire attraction has been filled with youngsters dressed in their best children's fancy dress clobber to take part in a variety of different pirate-themed activities.

Kids have been having fun by taking part in treasure trails throughout the aquarium, having their faces painted in a manner of different guises and watching shows at the Aquatheatre.

There have even been sub-aquatic sword fights and underwater pirate shows to keep kids entertained all day long as they walk around looking like Captain Jack Sparrow.

The aquarium's Paul Renolds said Pirate Week is always popular with children as it is a great opportunity to dress up.

He even said members of staff are getting into the spirit of things and "can't wait to get out of their uniforms and into their pirate's gear".

Parents can keep their kids entertained at Blue Planet until Pirate Week comes to an end on Saturday (February 26th) but there's always an excuse to dress up and the venue's Pirate Playground, which is open all year round, is just one of them.
