squadgoalsheader Why are group fancy dresses such a good idea? There are several reasons. A few include: 1) it being easier to come up with a theme or idea for everyone in a group to follow; 2) it promotes a sense of common purpose; 3) it’s great for things like going to festivals and Carnival; and 4) you can have lots of fun with it! Because group fancy dress is such a great way of getting dressed up we're sure you and your friends will be the epitome of #squadgoals. Here are some ideas of what to wear:

The Simpsons

Getting Simpsons-style costumes and masks isn’t difficult. Plus, it makes an excellent group costume if you go as the family. Yes, there’s the classic Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, but what about the extended family? Yes, that includes the permanently-smoking and coarse Patty and Selma. And don’t forget Abraham Simpson (Homer’s dad), Jacqueline Bouvier (Marge’s mum) and 60s radical Mona Simpson (Homer’s mum). Oh, and there’s a huge cast of other characters to choose from. Teletubbies

Want to freak out everyone who’s not a child? There’s one sure-fire way of doing it, and that’s by being an adult dressing up in a Teletubbies costume. The question now is, “Which one do I want to be? Tinky Winky, Dipsy, LaaLaa or Po?” All similarly good, all similarly frightening. TLE Laa Laa, Dipsy, Po,Tinky Winky.

Roman/Greek Warriors

Ever wanted to actually become the army of 300? Well, now you can, with these Spartan garbs. Of course, you could also become a Persian invader or a Roman warrior if you’re going to an ancient warrior party or something similar. The best thing about these costumes? They’re loose-fitting and great to wear in hot environments like carnivals and clubs. romanandgreekRoman Goddess, Roman Beauty, Spartan, Perseus.

Star Wars

Well, we had to say it, didn’t we? We can’t mention anything powered by fandom, films or the fun of dressing up without mentioning the new Star Wars films. And frankly, why not? The current crop of films are pretty much everything that fans wanted from the prequels (i.e. they’re actually good and watchable). Hence, expect a spate of people dressed up in all sorts of the new Star Wars costumes for a many years to come, even after the final episode has finished filming and screening. Well, it was thus for the original Lucas Star Wars, so why not this batch? A good buy that will likely be usable for many parties over the years. Where’s Wally/Wenda?

A favourite amongst fancy dressers everywhere, and it’s not hard to see why. The Wally/Wenda costumes are great fun and take us all back to our childhoods, when those of us who didn’t want to read books during reading time at school would pick out a copy of Where’s Wally? From the shelves and test their visual-spatial skills. (Hey, some of us got bored reading generic children’s literature when we had Alan Garner and Roald Dahl to look forward to at home.) Makes for an excellent couples costume as well. Also, if everyone in the party dresses up as Wally/Wenda, you can play an actual game of Where’s Wally? And that infamous page where everyone’s dressed as Wally! wally Wally, Wenda. We hope we’ve inspired you for your next group fancy dress idea. Share your pics with us on #SquadGoals, whether or not they fit any of the ideas above.
