Liverpool is to play host to a fun fancy dress event later this month in the form of its annual Long Night celebrations.

Cultural centres all over the city will throw open their doors on November 18th 2010 for visitors to go along to and enjoy exhibitions, performances and tours, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Anyone who participates is also likely to see plenty of Christmas fancy dress, as the evening also marks the official start of Liverpool's festive period.

Among the activities on offer will be an Objects of Curiosity & Desire display at the Liverpool Playhouse, as well as backstage ghost walks at the same venue.

Event coordinator Dan Stinson told the newspaper: "Our aim is to inspire everyone of all ages to enjoy the wonderful range of world-class arts events happening in Liverpool every day of the year."

However, if you intend do go, don't make it too early, as the fun starts at 16:00 GMT - and you should probably avoid Scouse wigs in favour of more sensible costumes, too.
