A friend of John Lennon has revealed the musician once livened up a boring RE lesson by playing a trick using fun fancy dress.
Len Garry, who joined Lennon's first band The Quarrymen, told Fox News they once had a religion teacher who was very serious and strait-laced, prompting the former Beatle to say: "This teacher is not going to be satisfied unless we're all priests."
His comment sparked an idea in his own mind and Lennon went home that night to collect items for a host of priest fancy dress costumes.
He gave them to his classmates just before the lesson started and Mr Garry said the teacher "looked up and saw the whole class filled with priests", much to everyone's amusement.
Lennon would have turned 70 last weekend and his son Julian unveiled a peace memorial in his honour in Liverpool on Sunday (October 10th 2010).
The former Beatle was shot dead in New York in 1980.
