Putting on fun fancy dress outfits is a great way to raise money for charity and it seems people in Devon know this well.

On Saturday (May 21st 2011), locals will choose their favourite pirate fancy dress, animal costumes or Hollywood outfits on to take part in the Nightwalk event.

Ladies who want to do their bit to raise money for the North Devon Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support are going to walk between Torrington, Bideford, Barnstaple and Braunton during the night.

It's a popular affair and last year saw 1,500 women take part, dressing up in funny clothes for the six, seven, 11, 17 and 18-mile walk - depending on how fit you are.

This year, promoters are trying to get participants into the spirit and have said: "It has been great to see our ladies come out in fancy dress for the occasion and it'd be great to see an even bigger turnout this year of fabulous walkers dressed to the nines."

Girls who want to have fun with their friends for the Nightwalk have the choice of joining as a team, which could groups dress up in different costume themes.
