Should you be in the Birmingham area with nothing to do this weekend, you could don a witch fancy dress costume and head along to the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.

That's because the venue is playing host to the Discworld Convention, which this year has the theme 'The Thing and the Whole of the Thing'.

This only happens every two years and is a celebration of Terry Pratchett's popular series of books, some of which have also been made into television programmes.

Not only will there be witches in honour of the Wyrd Sisters, but there is also likely to be elves, trolls and vampires, who will attend a number of different talks and discussions.

The event is set to run until Monday (August 30th), so there is plenty of time to check out the fun and even meet Mr Pratchett himself.

In case you aren't familiar with the series, Discworld is a flat world held up by four giant elephants who are standing on the back of a turtle.

Perhaps turtle fancy dress could also be appropriate in that case!
