A writer is looking forward to a Canadian festival which he said always results in fun fancy dress.

In an article for the Metro, Alex Macpherson revealed he went to Igloofest for the first time in January 2009 and discovered a very exciting - if extremely chilly - event.

Indeed, the journalist said he experienced temperatures 15 degrees C below freezing at Quai Jacques-Cartier in Montral, where Igloofest is to have its fourth outing in 2011.

"You might think the necessity of wearing so many items of thick, sensible clothing would preclude creativity, but Montrealers will prove you wrong," Alex commented.

Anyone hoping to follow in his footsteps and head across the pond may be interested to know that Igloofest is a techno music event and will take place on January 13th to 15th, 20th to 22nd and 27th to 29th 2011.

If you want to dress up, you could always think of a cold weather costume such as penguin fancy dress.

The advantage of this is that you can wear lots of layers underneath and nobody will notice - you could even pack a few hot water bottles under those flippers!
