A British actor has said he is thrilled and honoured to be given the chance to wear Spiderman fancy dress in a new film.

Andrew Garfield has landed the role of Peter Parker on a forthcoming 'reboot' of the franchise, beating off competition from Jamie Bell and other talented youngsters in the process.

He said in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter that he has been anticipating this moment ever since he first dressed up as the webbed crimefighter aged four years for Halloween.

"God, it's just the stuff that dreams are made of, for sure," Andrew added.
