  • January Jones' superhero fancy dress 'will be skimpy'

    The superhero fancy dress worn by January Jones in the forthcoming X-Men movie is more than a little skimpy, the actress has said.

    She is playing Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class, which is a prequel to the first three films, and she told the Los Angeles Times that her outfit is not subtle.

    "The costumes are insane. It's a lot of very body-conscious stuff. If you look at the comic book, she's barely dressed," Jones commented.

  • Wonder Woman 'should go back to original superhero fancy dress'

    A fan of comic books has argued that Wonder Woman should be allowed to revert to her original superhero fancy dress rather than the new outfit created for her last year.

    It was announced in June 2010 by Jim Lee that the crime fighter would be ditching her famous bustier and hotpants for black leggings, flatter boots and an '80s-style baseball jacket.

    The urban feel to her new costume comes from the fact that her backstory has been changed - instead of being raised on Paradise Island, she has now been raised in a city.

  • Superhero fancy dress among costumes for New Year's Day swim

    Your New Year's Day celebrations may have involved superhero fancy dress, but the chances are they didn't feature taking a dip in freezing cold water.

    However, around 200 people saw in 2011 with a swim in costume at the annual New Year's Day swim in Whitley Bay, getting in to the icy waters off the Tyneside coast to participate.

    They waded in off the Northern Promenade and squealed as they felt the temperature, but gamely carried on before getting out and quickly donning fluffy towels.
